FAQS

What is Resistance Pilatchi?

Resistance Pilatchi is brand name originally inspired by a hybrid of Pilates and Tai Chi but now involves all forms of alternative exercises using agile resistance bands.

There are three versions to suit everyone:

  1. Calm – Slow standing moves with muscles and tendons working with time under tension to calm moving to meditation music
  2. Aerobic – Early and Advanced
  3. Mat – Core using resisted levers

There are three main themes that are unique about Resistance Pilatchi:

  1. Firstly, it has been designed by a physiotherapist who has wanted to share an idea on optimising the way we should move combining strength and mobility by changing the way we use resistance bands improving functional output. A Physio’s Approach remains part of this new brand.
  2. Secondly the resistance bands are much more versatile because they are secured to a glove and a foot strap which allows you the leverage and agility to move freely using your hands and feet rather than standing and holding onto bands with the risk of letting them go.
  3. Finally, the exercises are different because there are not many mobile exercises requiring slow and calming movement using time under tension to improve flexibility, mobility and balance whilst simultaneously applying resistance forces to get stronger on the move. The aerobic versions require the same versatility, but they lose the time under tension benefit, as they are quicker moves but with a faster beat of music requiring more cardiovascular input.

You can, but the length of other bands is unlikely to be suitable to do the exercises we do. This is because our bands come in one set length of 60 cm, but you can adjust the band to different heights using the O rings on the foot straps so everyone has the correct starting position to suit your height. Also, the angle of pull using ankle or wrist straps is less optimal as they are more aligned vertically with your body when doing resistance exercises.

Our resistance bands connect just above the mid foot up to the very end of your wrist joint near the palm of your hand. This means the angles of pull are greater because the bands remain further from your body allowing better leverage to exercise. This also minimises the bands interfering with other parts of your body when you exercise.

Health. Fitness. Wellness

The hybrid between Tai Chi and Pilates offers a comprehensive workout that benefits the body and the mind, helping you to reach your goals while promoting holistic well-being.
